New art exhibit opens: Foot Soldiers — Voting Rights. Civil Rights. Human Rights.

New art opens at Elegba Folklore Society on Friday, October 7 with a reception from 5p – 9p.  A photography show entitled, Foot Soldiers — Voting Rights. Civil Rights. Human Rights. and features more than 200 images from a documentation of the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington.  The photographer, Theodore Holmes, calls the series “a reminder to people to do something; to organize.  This is my visual statement of inspiration and concern about an apparent ‘open season’ on young black people.  Do something.  That’s more than a vote.  My photos are my activism.”
The Society’s Cultural Center is located in the RVA Arts District at 101 East Broad Street.  The exhibit  will run through January 31.
