Sept. 17, 2016 Saturday- Short Films: Summer of the Gods byEliciana Nascimento & Maestrina da Favela w/Falani Spivey

*Elegba Society: 2:00pm – 2:45pm* SUMMER OF THE GODS premiered at Cannes film Festival, and has won five awards so far, including three of best picture. With this film, she reveals the beauty, culture and mythology of her people. Her hope is that it will encourage the preservation of Orishas traditions by inspiring viewers to honor them and learn more. Exclusive sneak peak: MAESTRINA da FAVELA, A coming-of-age documentary, following the life of Afro-Brazilian, female percussionist Elem Silva between the ages of 13-22.
