New Art Exhibit: For the Culture -The Paintings of Julian Greene

Elegba Folklore Society, Richmond’s Cultural Ambassador, will feature new work in its cultural center March 2 through May 25. Painter, Julian Greene will exhibit his art in an exhibition entitled For the Culture. Says Greene, “I paint and draw depictions of the African American experience. My work consists mainly of elongated, exaggerated figures reminiscent of celebrated artist, Ernie Barnes, along with the cubism and abstract features heavily influenced by master painter, Pablo Picasso.” The show’s intention is to inspire viewers, especially youth, with strong visual representations of their heritage and cultural expressions. Julian Greene lives in Richmond.

Elegba Folklore Society’s Cultural Center is located at 101 E Broad St in the downtown RVA Arts District. The opening reception begins at 5p in association with the 1st Fridays Artwalk. Regular hours are Noon – 6p, Tuesday through Friday, Noon – 5p, Saturdays, and by appointment.
