On June 25, the Genworth Lights Up! Youth Open House returns to Dominion Arts Center, 600 East Grace St. (Same location as Juneteenth 2016 with Dick Gregory) This free event offers more than 30 participatory workshops, lecture-demonstrations and performances in the visual and performing arts for children and youth ages 3 to 18. Registration begins at 10:30a and the sessions run from Noon – 5.
At 2p Elegba Folklore Society will facilitate a heritage crafts workshop called, The Cowtail Switch. The Horsetail or Cowtail or Cowtail Switch is a symbol of power, order, status and influence in several African societies. It can also perform functional tasks as a fly whisk or a story whisk. Make your own and discover the magic of your own story!
